How to Perform a Manual Migration from cPanel to cPanel Print

  • 0

Manually migrating an account involves transferring files, databases, and configurations from your old cPanel hosting to your new cPanel hosting.

Remembering that in order to carry out the migration it is necessary that the platform where the files are located is cPanel and that your active hosting on HostGator has cPanel - Personal, Entrepreneur, Business, Turbo, Reseller, VPS Servers and Dedicated Linux Plans.

The domain needs to be added to the hosting plan here with us - if necessary, check out how to do it

¡ Before you start the migration, we recommend that you make a full backup of your files that you have in your current account and also in the new account (if you already have some site content)

Here's how:

1On your old cPanel hosting, you'll be prompted to generate a full backup of the hosting you're migrating - Make sure you have up-to-date backups of all data, including files, databases, and email settings - see how to do this

2After completing the hosting backup, download the file to your computer

3Then, send the backup file to your new cPanel hosting – make sure the file is compressed into .zip, .tar, or tar.gz format – otherwise, you'll need to convert it to one of these formats and then upload it to the new hosting

There are two ways to make this shipment:

  • Via cPanel - If the file is up to 500 MB

  • Via FTP - If the file is larger than 500 MB

4With the backup file added to the new cPanel hosting, ask support for the restore - When requesting the restore, all the content of the site and/or database will be replaced by the restored content and it will not be possible to revert to the previous content. If you have more than one hosting plan, make sure you're ordering the right product.

As this is an external backup, we are not responsible for any failures that may occur during the process.
